Book on people management by Unnikrishnan Meladi.

About the book:

With rapid growth in the economy, new leaders come into being. Many of them learn to lead by sheer experience of dealing with a situation and few others through training.  Team leaders and HR executives are alike when it comes to questions like “what does it mean to lead on the floor”.  And “How do I demonstrate leadership?“ “Is there a source for practical case studies and daily instances that I can learn from?” and many such similar questions.

As a passionate student of human behaviour, Unni`s observations and findings seeking a transition from an individual contributor to a leader of people calls for different sets of skills, insights, empathy and imagination. Unni`s book “ LEAD” is a maiden leap of faith by the author to bring practical yet insightful situations to support the quest for learning on leadership. On the other side of the spectrum, Unni`s quest to understand leadership is aptly reflected through interactions with Heads of State and Business Leaders as well. This book has varied articles reflecting the valuable time he spent working in organizations where he learnt the finest HR Management Values. His tenure with the prominent people of Indian politics and bureaucracy has equally contributed to the contents of this work.

The absence of or limited use of management jargons in this work makes it unique from other books on leadership. This deviation on the part of the author is intentional so that the leaders at the bottom of the pyramid can enjoy a relief of simplicity while reading.

The author has made sincere efforts to elucidate the relationship of modern people management ideas along with inherited values combining his experiences with elders and Generation Y.  Here the author makes attempts to weave few strands of traditional values with contemporary events.

Readers will enjoy the snippets and pragmatic wisdom of how to lead through the various articles and will surely be able to relate to their common day situations and events.  It will surely help the people managers to draw insights and experiment with several practical ways to lead.
