Effective August 1st 2009 the Reserve Bank of India has made it mandatory for all online transactions to have an extra level of authentication. This is to make online transactions safer and more secure.
This extra level of security means, you need to key in a password after submitting your credit card details while making payment through internet. Visa and MasterCard offer this additional security through Verified by Visa (VbV) and MasterCard Secure Code (MSC) respectively.
Please visit your bank’s website for registration for VBV and MSC. If you have a Visa card, you need to register for VBV and MasterCard should be registered for MSC. Once you are registered, you can use the credit card as usual with any website. However, after entering the credit card details, the website will take you to your bank’s website for entering the password.
Please note that this is an additional level of security for your credit card and to make sure that your card is never misused by any other individual.
In case you have any doubts or clarifications required on VBV or MSC, feel free to contact us at info@maebag.com
